Recurring Summer Problems for Fort Wayne City Utilities Creates a Bad Tastes for Customers

Summer has come to Northeastern Indiana. The birds are singing, the sun is shinning, and the city water tastes like a swamp.

On May 23, 2024 Fort Wayne City Utilities changed the notice on the Current Water Conditions portion of their website. The water description now reads:

Organic: Customers begin to notice a taste and/or order in the water that may be described as organic, swampy, grassy, sweet, medicinal, fishy or rancid.

That’s quite a wide range of symptoms! While the City assures residents that the water is still up to their qualifications for safe drinking water, they did comment that the water is being affected by changes in organic compounds in the St. Joe River. Last year around the same time, residents found their water smelling grassy, tasting swampy, and even outright rancid.

Once again, residents are having to bear with these organic compounds during the harsh heat of summer. Summer is when you are most in need of a crisp glass of cool water. With the heat rising, the question becomes: what do I do now?

At AquaTek, we understand that this variation in water taste can be frustrating. You need water that’s accessible, refreshing, and consistent. So, when our customers began calling about this change, our solution was to recommended a Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Systems.
